It is now possible to refresh metrics for SEO Difficulty score.
In the areas related to Keywords, such as Keyword Research and Rank Tracking, users will have the option to refresh the SD, or SEO Difficulty, of any keyword.
Besides the SD column, a new one was added, Updated. This will indicate the last period the SEO Difficulty was updated.
This new function aims to update the keyword’s report with the latest SD data available. This involves pulling new data to calculate in real-time the new SD score.
To do that, you can either click the revolving arrows in case of updating a single keyword.
Or, you can select multiple keywords and then click the button “UPDATE METRICS” available in the top of the report. This will update the SD in bulk.
The more keywords you select to update at once, the longer it may take to finish refreshing them.
A usage count is available right beside the Update Metrics button.
For example, If you see the count (100/500) this means 100 credits out of the 500 were used, and there are only 400 credits left, and so on.
Paid accounts have access to a default number of Refresh credits. Free and unlogged users face more limitations. The default number of credits is per month.
The limits are as follows:
- Unlogged users: 0 credits
- Free Accounts: 10 credits
- Tier 0 & Restart users: 50 credits
- Individual users: 200 credits
- Business users: 500 credits
- Enterprise users: 700 credits
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I UPDATE METRICS?
Each time you select a keyword and refresh its SEO Difficulty score, it will bring the latest data available, based on the factors used to calculate SD.

You will see the refreshed SD metric in other keyword reports. For example, you’ve updated the metric in Rank Tracking:
After updating it, it will change the status to “NOW”.
For example, if you check that keyword, “search for engines” in Keyword Ideas, you will see the same Update status and SD value as Rank Tracking:
Basically, refreshing the SD metric will update it across all relevant Keyword reports.
It is possible to refresh SD metrics in the following reports: Rank Tracking, Keyword Ideas, Keywords by Traffic, and Keyword Lists.
MY CREDITS RAN OUT. WHAT NOW?
The default number of credits refreshes on the 1st day of the month.
If you run out of refresh credits before the new month, you can always buy a Refresh Credit Metric Add-on directly in the Account & Billing area.
This will expand the default limits to 500 additional credits. Each add-on costs USD 5 per month.

Finally, if you click on Refresh Metrics multiple times for the same keyword, each time will count as one update. It is not possible to cancel the update if clicking by mistake.
The goal of refreshing SD metrics is to ensure users have autonomy and that the metrics being used to measure performance are up-to-date and accurate. By regularly refreshing metrics, businesses and organizations can make informed decisions based on the most recent data, identify trends or issues more quickly, and adjust their strategies accordingly.
