Ubersuggest's Site Audit tool helps website owners identify and fix SEO issues. However, sometimes it can't crawl your website. This guide explains why this happens and how to resolve it.
What Does "The Site Audit for Your Website Has Stopped" Mean?
This error means Ubersuggest couldn't complete the site audit for your website. Common reasons include:
- Website accessibility issues
- Robots.txt restrictions
- Improper redirects
Why Is This Error Bad for SEO?
If Ubersuggest can't crawl your site, search engines might also struggle. This can hurt your SEO since search engines won't index your content effectively.
How to Identify the Issue
Here are common reasons and how to troubleshoot them:
- Website Accessibility
Ensure your website is accessible. If it’s down or slow, Ubersuggest can't crawl it.
- Robots Tag
Check if your homepage is set to 'noindex'. If so, change it to allow indexing.
- Robots.txt
Make sure your robots.txt file allows robots to crawl your site.
- Redirects
Verify your website uses proper 301 redirects.

Locating the Issue on Your Website
Use your browser's "Inspect Element" tool to check meta tags and robots.txt. For redirects, manually enter your website URL in an incognito window to check if it redirects properly. To view your robots.txt file, enter example.com/robots.txt in your browser (replace "example" with your website address).
Open the "Inspect Element" Tool by following the following simple steps:
- Open your website in your browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Safari).
- Right-click on the webpage (anywhere on the page) and select "Inspect" or "Inspect Element" from the context menu.
- Google Chrome: Right-click and select "Inspect".
- Mozilla Firefox: Right-click and select "Inspect Element".
- Safari: Right-click and select "Inspect Element". (Note: You may need to enable the Develop menu in Safari's Preferences under the "Advanced" tab.)
Additional Tips
If you've checked the first four steps and still have issues, your website's security system might be blocking our robots. Add Ubersuggest's IPs as an exception to your security system.
