In Ubersuggest’s keyword tracking tool, there may be times when a keyword displays as "Pending" or "Not Ranked," or the data seems to be loading indefinitely. This can be due to the timeframe selected, the recent addition of keywords, or the ranking status of certain keywords. Below is a guide to understanding these statuses and how to manage them.
Data Collection Starts When Keywords Are Added
Ubersuggest begins tracking data for a keyword only from the moment it’s added to a project. If a user attempts to view data from a period before the keyword was added, they’ll see either a "Pending" status or an indefinite loading indicator because no historical data exists.
The Impact of Timeframe Selection
Choosing the appropriate date range is crucial for accurate data display. If the selected timeframe includes dates before the keyword’s addition, the tool may appear to be stuck loading. This is because there is no data available before the keyword was tracked. To prevent this, ensure the date range starts on or after the project or keyword's creation date.
Understanding the "Pending" Status
The "Pending" status appears when Ubersuggest is actively collecting data for a newly added keyword. This status will remain until there’s enough data to display the keyword’s position or other relevant metrics. This is normal for new keywords and will automatically update as Ubersuggest gathers more information.
What Does "Not Ranked" Mean?
The "Not Ranked" status indicates that the tracked keyword isn’t currently ranking within the top 99 search results on Google. This status may appear if:
- Keyword Visibility: The keyword hasn’t gained sufficient visibility to rank on the first few pages of search results.
- Recent Changes: Fluctuations in search rankings, which can occur frequently, may temporarily push the keyword out of the top ranks. Refer to this article for more information on Fluctuations in Keyword Rankings.
- Search Volume: Low-volume keywords or highly competitive keywords may not rank, especially if there isn’t enough authority or relevance on the tracked website.
When a keyword is marked as "Not Ranked," it suggests that the term needs more optimization or may be challenging to rank for given the current website's strength.
Special Case: Featured Snippets
When a keyword achieves a featured snippet, it may be displayed at the top of search results in a highlighted box, often referred to as "position zero", and may appear in Ubersuggest as “Not Ranked” as well. This unique ranking can influence user traffic, even if it’s not aligned with traditional rankings. We’re continuously working on accurately representing featured snippet rankings within Ubersuggest to reflect their visibility more effectively.
