Utilizing the Information from your Content Ideas Report
Now that you’ve got some links to choose from the report, let’s get to work on finding the best content for your new blog post!
Identify a blog post from the report with substantial estimated visits, backlinks, and social shares.
To decide what’s appropriate, look for:
- A good number of estimated visits (at least 75)
- A decent total backlink count (at least 10)
- A good number of social shares.
Important Note: Avoid content from significantly larger brands to ensure relevance. For example, you won’t want to pick content written by sites everyone knows like CNN because it’s not hard for content to become popular when you already have millions of visitors.
Example: Let's consider a post on "Email Marketing Statistics and Benchmarks" for this guide.
Implement the Skyscraper Technique
You’ve chosen a post – so now, let’s rewrite the post and improve it by using the Skyscraper Technique, is so named because your goal is to beat other blogs covering the same material and get higher shares, backlinks, rankings, and view count.

The Skyscraper Technique is a proven content strategy where you find content that is obviously link-worthy to enhance your chosen post:
- Keyword Exploration: Click on the "Keywords" button beside the selected blog post to reveal the focus keywords. Incorporate these keywords into your rewrite.
- Export Keywords: Export the keywords to CSV, ensuring you include them strategically in your revamped content.

Once you do that, you’ll see a long list of keywords that drive traffic to that specific page. Go through all the keywords and export them to CSV.
