Discover how Rank Tracking in Ubersuggest helps you monitor keyword performance, identify ranking opportunities, and measure SEO progress over time. Learn how to track keyword trends, analyze visibility changes, and make data-driven decisions that strengthen your content strategy and improve your search presence.
How to Check Rankings
Monitoring keyword performance is made simple with Ubersuggest’s Rank Tracking feature. To begin, create a project and add the keywords you want to track. Once your project is active, Ubersuggest automatically updates keyword rankings weekly.
You will also receive weekly email notifications depending on your plan, helping you stay informed about performance changes.
The Rank Tracking report provides a snapshot of your website’s visibility, showing keyword positions and trends over time. Maintaining an active project ensures continuous access to historical ranking data, so you can monitor growth and identify opportunities.
For deeper insights, navigate to the project referenced in your Rank Tracking report. There, visual indicators such as arrows and graphs highlight movements in keyword rankings. Clicking on “See Trend” gives you access to even more detailed performance data.
This feature also lets you track rankings by location, both at the country and city levels. Location-based tracking helps you see how search results may differ depending on where users are searching from, which is especially useful for local SEO and region-specific campaigns.
Keep in mind that not all cities or municipalities are available as tracking options. However, the list of supported locations is constantly being updated as new data becomes available.
Note: Adding a keyword does not guarantee immediate data. The keyword must appear in your site’s indexed content for Google to display rankings. If a keyword shows as “Not Ranked,” it means it is outside the top 100 results.
Additionally, rank tracking updates run on a weekly schedule. This means that when you add a new keyword to Rank Tracking, its data may appear with the next scheduled update rather than immediately.
How to Read the Rank Tracking Report
The Rank Tracking report offers multiple ways to analyze keyword performance:
Timeframe & Device Selection
At the top, you can select timeframes such as Last 2 Weeks, Last Month, or a custom range. Rankings can be analyzed by location and device type (Desktop or Mobile), giving you a complete overview of visibility across platforms.
Note: Mobile tracking is disabled by default. You can enable it at any time from the project settings. For more information, please check How to Manage Projects in Ubersuggest.
Average Position
The Average Position graph shows the mean ranking of all tracked keywords within your project. This makes it easy to see overall performance trends.
The black number shows the current average position for the selected timeframe.
The gray number represents the previous average position.
The small green or red number shows changes compared to the last period (green for improvement, red for decline).
Hovering over the graph displays the average position for specific dates.
How it’s calculated:
Ubersuggest averages all tracked keyword positions.
Keywords not ranking in the top 100 are treated as +100.
For example, if 25 out of 50 keywords rank above position 100, the average position will be negatively impacted.
If none of your keywords rank within the top 100 during a selected timeframe, the graph may display the message: “We’re still collecting data for your keywords, please check back in a few hours.”
Current Search Result Rankings
This section breaks down tracked keywords into ranking groups: Top 3, Top 10, Top 100, and Not Ranked. This helps identify how many keywords are highly visible versus those that still need optimization.
Impact of Google Updates on Rank Tracking
In recent Google updates, changes to how search results data is collected have affected all SEO tools, including Ubersuggest. To maintain accuracy and stability, Rank Tracking in Ubersuggest now follows these rules:
Weekly Updates by Default → Keyword rankings and projects update once per week across all plans. Daily updates are no longer available.
Top 100 Coverage → Ubersuggest continues tracking keywords within the top 100 Google results.
Expanded SERP Refreshes → When refreshing results in tools such as Keyword Ideas, Bulk Analysis, or Keywords by Traffic, Ubersuggest now displays up to 50 results (5 pages) instead of just 10.
Despite these changes, Ubersuggest’s core features remain the same, including:
Comprehensive site audits
Keyword research and competitor analysis
SEO health tracking and content performance insights
AI-powered recommendations for strategy improvement
These updates ensure long-term platform stability while still providing accurate, actionable SEO insights.
Data Tracking Duration
Rank Tracking stores historical keyword data for up to three years. After this period, deleting and recreating a project resets the data timeline.
Importing Keywords Using a CSV File
You can bulk import keywords into Rank Tracking by uploading a CSV file. Ubersuggest accepts its template or any spreadsheet with a column titled “Keywords.”
To upload:
1. Go to Rank Tracking in your project.
2. Click “Add Keywords.”
3. Select “Import from CSV.”
How to Remove Keywords From a Project
To remove keywords from Rank Tracking:
1. Open the keyword list within your project.
2. Select individual keywords or check the box to select all.
3. Click Delete to remove them.
If your project tracks multiple locations, this process must be repeated for each location. You can switch between locations at the top of the Rank Tracking report.
Why the Ranked Keywords Show No Data
If you select a timeframe before a keyword was added to a project, no data will appear. For example, if a keyword was added in June but you view results from May, the tool will show no data.
Additionally, Ubersuggest ensures that newly added keywords display their current position within a 30-day window, even if no historical data exists yet.
Inactivity & Data Pausing
If your Ubersuggest account is inactive for 30 days or more, data tracking for your projects is automatically paused. This helps prioritize system resources for active users.
During the inactivity period, no new data is collected, and any missed data cannot be recovered. Once you log back in, tracking resumes automatically, and your dashboard begins collecting fresh data again.
To avoid interruptions, make sure to log in at least once every 30 days. For more information, please check Dashboard: No Data for Inactive Account.
