Keyword research is an essential component in the application of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques, playing a critical role in determining a website’s visibility, ranking, and effectiveness in reaching its intended audience.
This process involves the careful identification and analysis of specific words and phrases that users commonly employ to search for products, services, or information online. By uncovering and integrating these relevant keywords into digital content, marketers and creators can ensure that their material is aligned with user queries and needs, thereby improving the chances of web pages being easily discovered by potential consumers.
In this article, users will learn how to take advantage of Ubersuggest’s Keyword Research section.
Ubersuggest’s Keyword Research Features
The keyword research features help users to find relevant keyword suggestions that might help their websites to improve their rankings and content quality.
Keyword Overview
This feature is focused on showing users the most relevant metrics numbers around a target keyword. This report will include volume indicated in the 5 most relevant locations, cost per click (CPC), paid difficulty (PD), and SEO difficulty (SD) data. Based on this information a user can determine the importance and need of using that keyword in their content.
It will also include a Search Volume graph which collects the global mobile and desktop traffic estimations for the keyword searched in the last 12 months. A general overview of the searches' age range and organic clicks.
At the bottom users can find a summary of the most relevant keywords and content ideas based on the target keyword.
Keyword Ideas
Ubersuggest helps to discover new keyword ideas based on a target keyword. To do so, head to the keyword ideas section and type in a keyword to get suggestions. This way, users can get a comprehensive list of potential keywords they may want to rank for.
This report will include volume, cost per click (CPC), paid difficulty (PD), and SEO difficulty (SD) data for each keyword listed.
With the new tabbed options, it is possible to search by keyword or domain.
Search by Keyword
If a user types in a keyword instead of a domain, the search will run and flip them over to the "Search by Keyword" tab and run the search there.
Search by Website
If a user enters a domain instead of a keyword, the search will run and flip them over to the "Search by Domain" tab and run the search there.
Now, the Keyword Ideas feature allows users to add up to 3 keywords to search at a time, for this, users just must type in each keyword and press the ¨Enter¨ button on the keypad, once the 3 keywords are added, click on the search button.
Filters can be applied to the user's search, for example, SD score, Volume range, and CPC.
Also, they can filter the search by including or excluding any specific words, for example, if users search for marketing and want to see only results that include the word jobs and/or exclude the keyword agency.
The Keyword Ideas report is divided into different branches like Suggestions, Related, Questions, Prepositions, and Comparisons. All the sections will include the targeted keywords and the filters as well.
Keyword Visualization
This feature takes out and collects autosuggestion data from Google for any keyword searched. Autosuggestions are the pre-loaded sentences that appear when searchers start typing on Google’s search bar as shown in the picture below:
By searching for a specific term users will obtain a wheel image with the most relevant Google's autosuggestions.
It is possible to get different wheels divided by branches like Suggestions, Related, Questions, Prepositions, and Comparisons.
This image report can be exported by clicking on the Export Image button at the top right of the wheel.
For better visualization, users can change to the Data report which will show tables with the same results on the wheel.
The Keyword Visualization report is very helpful when it comes to new content ideas, based on the most common visitors' searches users can include new content that covers those concerns around the business niche.
Keyword by Traffic
If a user wants to know what keywords are currently ranking for a certain website or web page, the Keywords by Traffic feature will be the best ally to find them.
By typing in the domain or page URL in the search bar the report will display a list of keywords organized by countries.
The number next to the country flag indicates the estimated traffic for that domain or page in this country, it is not the number of keywords ranking.
This feature is commonly used to find the most relevant keywords in the competitors' sites and might help to identify keyword opportunities if they are performing well for others.
This report also includes data like the webpage ranking for the keyword, the position, the keyword volume, and the estimated traffic the website searched gets around that term, the SEO Difficulty and the Update column which updates the SEO Difficulty metric exclusively.
Similar Websites
This feature shows users the main competitors for a given website, their estimated monthly traffic and a complete table including the common keywords, keywords gap, the estimated traffic and backlinks count.
It is possible to have the report in PDF and CVS files with similar websites, common keywords, and keyword gap
Note: When users export it as PDF, the report includes charts, tables, etc.
It is also available the option to Export Similar Websites’s Charts as Image: Organic Traffic
If a user clicks on the ¨View All¨ button a list with the common keywords or keywords gap will be displayed and the full list can be exported in a CSV file if needed.
Content Ideas
The content ideas report shows the relevant content pages based on the number of shares in social media platforms like Facebook, Reddit, and Pinterest.
Users can find the page's URLs and take the time to check them to get ideas on how to make user-friendly content and how to improve their pages' structure.
Keyword Lists
If a user would like to analyze certain keywords before adding them to the website content because is unsure of their performance or if it will be helpful, it is possible to add those keywords to a keyword list to keep an eye on them without having them on the Rank Tracker.
Users can name each list and add specific keywords under the lists depending on the categories.

Keyword Research Tips
To find new keywords and boost SEO, users can start by using short keywords to uncover more ideas with significant search volume. Utilize filters to include or exclude specific words, tailoring keyword lists to their needs.
If the user's website is still building authority, they should focus on keywords with an SEO Difficulty score between 0 and 40 to improve their chances of ranking higher in search results.
Additionally, spying on competitors is a great strategy to discover the high-ranking keywords they're using and fit them into the user's content. If those keywords are working for them should work for other sites in the niche as well.
Keywords Global Volume
Ubersuggest allows users to check global volume by selecting "All Locations" in the location drop-down menu. However, it is important to highlight that when searching for all locations the SEO Difficulty metric will be grayed out, this metric is provided only for specific locations.
